Hoerbiger is one of the pioneers of pneumatic and compressor technology today. As long ago as 1895 Hans Hoerbiger invented and received a patent for a unique automatic valve made of steel. The device would open on its own as soon as the vapour pressure was applied, and would close when the spring pressure exceeded the gas pressure. This innovation not only made the operation of the blast furnace easier, but also safer.
Already in 1900 the inventor and the engineer Friedrich-Wilhelm Rogler set up the first engineering office in Budapest, and later the company expanded and moved to Vienna, where the main headquarters of the group are situated today.
