L. Hauser KG was founded in February 1953 in Switzerland. The founders were Georg H. Endress and Ludwig Hauser. In 1957, the company was renamed Endress+Hauser. Initially the company sold electronic capacitive roll sensors for automobiles imported from England.
Today the company manufactures products for automation, measurement, control, digital communication as well as software products for various industries. The company manufactures recorders, pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, flow meters, level gauges, process control automatics for fluids, as well as inventory control systems and tank farm storage systems. Endress+Hauser also produces power supplies, intrinsic safety barriers in both conventional and intrinsically safe, explosion proof and hygienic versions.
The company has an extensive network of 89 subsidiaries in 42 countries around the world. In 2010 the company's sales exceeded EUR 1,313 million. It has production facilities in Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, UK, Czech Republic, USA, South Africa, India, China and Japan.
For process automation applications, there are volumetric or mass flow meters using electromagnetic, vortex or ultrasonic measurement principles. All flowmeters are equipped with modern interfaces for data exchange with controllers. High accuracy multi-parameter Coriolis sensors, traditional electromagnetic flowmeter, vortex flowmeter with a temperature of the working environment up to 450 degrees, differential pressure and thermal mass flowmeter are offered by the manufacturer.
Our sensors are designed for measuring the level of bulk materials and liquids in tanks or containers. For level measurement we use non-contact radar principle, ultrasonic principle, capacitive principle, conductivity change detection, vibration and float sensors, vane switches and microwave barriers. A wide range of measuring principles makes it possible to select a sensor for every medium.
Several series of sensors with different measuring principles are available for pressure or differential pressure determination in liquid and gaseous media. The Cerabar and Ceraphant ranges with ceramic, silicon cell or diaphragm seal are used for absolute and gauge pressure measurements. The pressure switches are equipped with a digital display for indication and can be connected to a PC. The Deltapilot and Waterpilot ranges are used for hydrostatic level measurement in tanks or wells and the Contite range can be used in highly condensing environments or aggressive gaseous media. For differential pressure applications, piezoresistive sensors in the silicon cell range are available for process pressures up to 700 bar and temperatures up to 400 degrees Celsius.
